GMF-β is a brain-specific protein that belongs to the actin-binding proteins ADF structural family. GMF-β appears to play a role in the differentiation, maintenance, and regeneration of the nervous system. IFN λ1, 2, and 3 (also known as IL-29, IL-28A and IL-28B respectively) are distantly related to the IL-10 family and interferons. HCC-1 is a CC chemokine that signals through the CCR1 receptor and chemoattracts blood monocytes. It is secreted by various tissues, including skeletal muscle, heart, spleen, liver, bone marrow and plasma. Mature HCC-1 is found in four different forms, which are distinguished by differential N-terminal truncation and contain 74, 72, 71, or 66 amino acid residues. Recombinant Human HCC-1 (CCL14) is a 7.8 kDa protein consisting of 66 amino acids, including the four highly conserved residues present in CC chemokines.

SDF-1α and β are stromal-derived, CXC chemokines that signal through the CXCR4 receptor. SDF-1α and β chemoattract B and T cells, and have been shown to induce migration of CD34+ stem cells. Additionally, the SDF-1 proteins exert HIV-suppressive activity in cells expressing the CXCR4 receptor. Human and murine SDF-1 proteins act across species. Both MIP-1α and MIP-1β are structurally and functionally related CC chemokines. They participate in host response to invading bacterial, viral, parasite and fungal pathogens, by regulating the trafficking, and activation state, of selected subgroups of inflammatory cells (e.g. macrophages, lymphocytes and NK cells). While both MIP-1α and MIP-1β exert similar effects on monocytes, their effect on lymphocytes differ; with MIP-1α selectively attracting CD8+ lymphocytes, and MIP-1β selectively attracting CD4+ lymphocytes. Additionally, MIP-1α and MIP-1β have also been shown to be potent chemoattractants for B cells, eosinophils and dendritic cells. Both human and murine MIP-1α and MIP-1β are active on human and murine hematopoietic cells. Neuritin is a neurotrophic factor that is expressed in response to the induction of neuronal activity by NGF, BDNF, NT3, and other neural stimulators. TRAIL is a cytotoxic protein, which activates rapid apoptosis in tumor cells, but not in normal cells. TRAIL-induced apoptosis is achieved through binding to two death-signaling receptors, DR4 and DR5.
