Students can watch the process of sedimentation and rock formation unfold before their eyes. It also demonstrates river erosion, deposition and layering of sediments, and rock formation and embedding of organic material to form fossils. Includes student and teacher guides that stress: classifying sediments, relating speed of water flow to sediment movement, describing sedimentary rock formation, explaining fossilization. Can also be used in conjunction with a stream table, sedimentary rock kit or fossil kit. Students can work in small groups or individually.
