Students learn how to measure blood pressure, pulse, and heart rate, and assess the effects that varying physiological conditions have on their rates, in this practical, comprehensive lab activity. For comparison, students also study the heart rate of Daphnia, varying the temperature and viewing the subsequent changes that take place in the ectothermic creature. Ward's has included the components of a viewing chamber that students make themselves for the easiest viewing of the Daphnia specimens.
