About this item
Designed for classroom use, these lightweight hoods feature an epoxy-coated aluminum frame with tempered safety glass front sash, sides, rear baffle, and top.
Hood systems include a white, epoxy-coated tubular steel cart with a black 2.5cm (1") thick solid epoxy dished work surface, a handle bar, a bottom shelf, and 10.2 cm (4") diameter toe-locking casters. Also included is a FilterMate™ Portable Exhauster, which requires either two carbon filters or one carbon filter and one HEPA filter (filters sold separately).
The organic carbon filter cell is a type AC filter that contains 5.4 kg (12 lbs.) of granular activated carbon media suitable for organic solvents including acetone, ethyl acetate, toluene, and xylene. The formaldehyde carbon filter cell is a type C1 filter that contains 6.4 kg (14 lbs.) of impregnated carbon media suitable for vapors from formaldehyde. The ammonia filter cell is a type CX filter that contains 7.3 kg (16 lbs.) of impregnated carbon media suitable for ammonia and low-molecular weight amines. The HEPA filter cell is 99.99% efficient on particulates 0.3 µm in size; however, it should not be used to capture biohazardous materials or volatile organic material. The syringe kit is for carbon saturation detection (detector tubes sold separately).
Hoods have a nominal width of 91.4 cm (3') and an interior depth of 58.4 cm (23") to easily accommodate a variety of apparatus. Hoods feature the Clean-Sweep™ air foil that allows air to sweep the work surface for maximum containment; two utility ports with iris openings for connection of tubing, cords, and cables; and an ergonomic angled sash that reduces glare. Flexible exhaust options enable the hood to be connected to ductwork for exhausting to the outside or to the optional FilterMate™ Portable Exhauster (see 82010-632 series) for filtered removal of fumes and/or particulates.
