LwCas13 is an RNA-guided ribonuclease that is naturally expressed by Leptotrichia wadei.
Catalytically active ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes are produced by incubating Cas13a with a sequence specific CRISPR RNA (crRNA), which guides the complex to its ~20-nucleotide target sequence in single-stranded RNA. Catalytically active RNPs can be used to degrade messenger RNA and/or other RNA species that lack protection from RNA binding proteins. Recombinant LwCas13 is purified from a microbial expression system. Properly targeted LwCas13 RNPs will specifically cleave RNA within the target sequence and remain bound to the target strand until denaturation or proteolytic digestion of the enzyme. While bound to the target strand, LwCas13 exhibits potent ribonuclease activity against other single-stranded RNA species present in solution.

10X LwCas13 reaction buffer: Specially optimized reaction buffer containing Tris-HCl, NaCl, and MgCl₂ at pH 7.3. This Buffer is supplied in a 10X concentration and should be diluted for use.
10X LwCas13 storage buffer: 50 mM Tris-HCl, 600 mM NaCl, 2 mM DTT, 50% Glycerol, pH 7.5 at 25 °C.
