Kit has been optimized to incorporate 1-3 biotinylated ribonucleotides (biotin-N4-CTP) onto the 3' end of DNA strands where the label will be less likely to interfere with hybridization or sequence-specific binding of proteins.

The 30-minute procedure uses non-isotopic labeling components to eliminate the hassle of hazardous radioactive materials and the expense of special disposal costs. The resulting probes are stable for up to one year and can be used to facilitate non-isotopic detection in a variety of applications including electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA)(see PI20148 series), northern or Southern blots, colony hybridizations, or in situ hybridizations.
