About this item

A direct specimen RNA probe-based diagnostic test for the differential detection and identification of the causative agents for vaginitis

The BD MicroProbe™ processor automates the testing procedure by moving the probe analysis cards through the seven wells of the reagent cassette. It is required to run the identification tests and fits on a benchtop. Dimensions: 25.4Wx15.2Dx22.9Hcm (10x6x9"). Weight: 3.6kg (8lbs.).

The sample collection kit includes swabs, tubes, and transport bags for routine sample collection and transfer. The ambient temperature transport system is a sterile ready-to-use system intended for the collection, transportation, and preservation of vaginal specimens. It should be used when transport times are expected to exceed one hour at ambient temperatures, 15 to 30°C (59 to 86°F), or four hours at refrigerated temperatures, 2 to 8°C (36 to 46°F).

The RNA probe technology offers a reliable and rapid means of early identification of Candida sp., Gardnerella vaginalis, and Trichomonas vaginalis. During the test process, the assay aligns complementary nucleic acid strands to form specific, double-stranded hybrids. A positive result shows a visible blue color reaction on one of the organism-specific beads embedded in the probe analysis card. Each card contains three vaginitis organism test beads, plus positive and negative control beads to ensure optimum test quality.
