About this item

Product is the lyophilized powder of rat IgG and buffer salts.

  • Purified rat IgG may be used as a reference antigen, standard, blocking agent, or coating protein in a variety of immunoassays including ELISA, dot immunobinding, Western immunoblotting, immunodiffusion, and immunoelectrophoresis.
  • Other applications include starting materials for the preparation of immunogens and solid phase immunoadsorbents.
  • Rat IgG was used as isotype control in flow cytometry and injected into mice to induce tolerance against rat IgG.
  • It is suitable for use as a positive control in antibody identification screening techniques.

The total protein is determined using the Biuret procedure, with bovine albumin as the standard. Each vial is overfilled by approximately 10 percent so that a minimum of 20 mg of rat IgG is obtained upon reconstitution.

Rat IgG is purified from pooled rat serum using multi-step procedures which may include salt fractionation, gel filtration, ion-exchange chromatography and immunoabsorption. The product is dialyzed into 0.01M sodium phosphate, 0.07M sodium chloride, pH 7.3, and filtered through a 0.22 µm filter, vialed and lyophilized. No preservative is added.

IgG antibody subtype is the most abundant serum immunoglobulins of the immune system. It is secreted by B cells and is found in blood and extracellular fluids and provides protection from infections caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Maternal IgG is transferred to fetus through the placenta that is vital for immune defence of the neonate against infections.

Reconstitution:: Reconstitute product with 2 mL of deionized or distilled water. Gentle swirling may be used to speed rehydration. Avoid vigorous shaking of the reconstituted material.
