The lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1) is a 50 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein that structurally belongs to the C-type lectin family. LOX-1 is expressed in vascular endothelium, vascular smooth muscle cells, differentiated macrophages and platelets.
