Natural, hard gelatin capsules are used as an embedding mold for water miscible resins, or resins which need to be cured by transmitted light. The gelatin capsules dissolve or disintegrate within 5 minutes when immersed in a 0.5% HCl solution at 36 to 38 °C, within 2 minutes in water at 37 °C or in artificial gastric juice.
