About this item
Leptin, the product of the obese gene (ob), is a hormone secreted by adipocytes. Administration of recombinant mouse leptin in ob/ob mice - homozygous ob mutants suffering from obesity - corrected both overeating and obesity. Moreover leptin reduced the appetite and weight of mice with diet-induced obesity, and caused significant loss of body weight and fat content in lean mice. For other Leptin fragments please inquire.
Leptin, an adipose tissue-derived protein encoded by the obese gene, has been implicated in the control of food intake, energy expenditure and reproduction. Additional roles in the regulation of immunity, inflammation, and hematopoiesis have been proposed.
