Supplier: MP Biomedicals

Isopropyl b-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside is a non-metabolizable galactose analog that induces expression of the lac operon in Escherichia coli. It functions by binding to the lac repressor and altering its conformation. This inactivation prevents the repression of the b-galactosidase coding lac gene.

IPTG, Dioxane-Free (isopropyl-β-d-thiogalactopyranoside), is an inducer of β-galactosidase activity in many bacteria. Functioning as a lac analog, IPTG induces β-galactosidase activity by binding to and inhibiting the lac repressor. This product is used to differentiate recombinants from nonrecombinants in cloning strategies using vectors containing the lacZ or lacZ α-peptide gene..

Supplier: MERIDIAN LIFE SCICNE, INC BE

Isopropyl-D-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) is a chemical analogue of galactose, which cannot be hydrolyzed by the enzyme --Galactosidase. Hence, it induces the E. coli lac operon activity by binding and inhibiting the lac repressor without being degraded.

IPTG (isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactopyranoside)

Supplier: 0000042190

IPTG is a modified sugar that can be used to induce protein expression under the control of the lacUV promotor. Our IPTG is of highest quality and purity. Like allolactose, IPTG binds to the lac repressor and releases the tetrameric repressor from the lac operator in an allosteric manner, thereby allowing the transcription of genes in the lac operon. But unlike allolactose, the sulfur (S) atom creates a chemical bond which is non-hydrolyzable by the cell, preventing the cell from metabolizing or degrading the inducer. The concentration of IPTG therefore remains constant and the expression of lac p/o-controlled genes would not be inhibited during the experiment.
