DNA extraction and purification kit

Successful PCR applications depend on well purified DNA. In diagnostics and analytics of food and medical samples PCR and real-time PCR has many advantages over conventional methods. In all cases it is of importance to have well purified DNA for subsequent PCR, real-time PCR, hybridization or sequencing purposes. Purified DNA leads to higher sensitivity and also specificity of PCR based tests in difficult matrices. With QuickBlue Extraction and Purification Kit you always get high DNA yields and highly purified DNA. The kit uses paramagnetic nano-particles for purification. It can help to purify DNA from difficult matrices like food or even blood in soil for applications in forensic sciences. DNA in Seawater can also be purified. This method avoids extensive centrifugation steps and can thus be applied in environments where centrifuges are not usable. The kits includes proteinase K as a reagent for cell disruption, so that extraction and purification can be performed with the kit. DNA yield from 1 ml bacterial enrichment is 10 μg of Genomic DNA. The protocol can be adapted to automated magnetic bead separation instruments.

The protein encoded by FGA gene is the alpha component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein comprised of three pairs of nonidentical polypeptide chains. Following vascular injury, fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin which is the most abundant component of blood clots. In addition, various cleavage products of fibrinogen and fibrin regulate cell adhesion and spreading, display vasoconstrictor and chemotactic activities, and are mitogens for several cell types. Mutations in this gene lead to several disorders, including dysfibrinogenemia, hypofibrinogenemia, afibrinogenemia and renal amyloidosis. Alternative splicing results in two isoforms which vary in the carboxy-terminus.
The total protein is measured using the Biuret procedure with bovine albumin as the standard. To ensure that the product titer falls within the required range, antibody titer is standardized by microtiter plate ELISA with human fibrinogen. The product is tested for purity and specificity at final concentration by immunoelectrophoresis. The antibody is predominantly goat IgG; no trace of albumin is detected.

BRSK1 Antibody: BRSK1 was initially identified as a mammalian homolog to the fission yeast S. pombe Cdr2, a mitosis-regulatory kinase and also shows significant homology to the C. elegans neuronal cell polarity regulator SAD1. BRSK1 is unbiquitously expressed, with highest levels of expression in the brain and testes. Similar to its yeast homolog, BRSK1 is thought to be involved in stress-induced cell cycle arrest. Overexpression of this protein leads to the G2/M arrest in HeLa S2 cells and UV-induced G2/M arrest could be partially abrogated by reduced expression of BRSK1 through the use of siRNA, indicating its role in DNA damage checkpoint function. More recently, it has been shown that both BRSK1 and the related protein BRSK2 are required for mammalian neuronal polarization. While BRSK1- and BRSK2-null mice were viable, double-mutant mice died within two hours of birth. Neurons from these mice showed uniformly-sized neurites as opposed to the normal long axon and multiple shorter dendrites. These neurites also displayed both axonal and dendritic markers. At least two isoforms of BRSK1 are known to exist.
