Anti-GFP Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Anti-GFP Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Supplier: ProSci Inc.

GFP (Green fluorescence protein) is a 27 kDa protein derived from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria, which emits green light when excited by blue light. GFP cDNA produces a fluorescent product when expressed in prokaryotic cells, without the need for exogenous substrates or cofactors. GFP has become an invaluable tool in cell biology research, since its intrinsic fluorescence can be visualized in living cells. GFP fluorescence is stable under fixation conditions and suitable for a variety of applications. GFP has been widely used as a reporter for gene expression, enabling researchers to visualize and localize GFP-tagged proteins within living cells without the need for chemical staining. Other applications of GFP include assessment of protein protein interactions through the yeast two hybrid system and measurement of distance between proteins through fluorescence energy transfer (FRET) protocols. GFP technnology has considerably contributed to a greater understanding of cellular physiology.

X-Gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-ß-D-galactopyranoside) ≥98%, white powder for molecular biology

Supplier: MP Biomedicals

Storage: Store at -20 °C. Store Desiccated. Store Under Nitrogen. Protect from light.
5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactopyranoside, commonly known as X−Gal, is a histochemical substrate for β−galactosidase.
5-Bromo-4-Chloro-3-Indolyl-β-D-Galactopyranoside is used as indigogenic substrate for β-galactosidase, for detection of β-galactosidase-positive clones, and the identification of lac and bacterial colonies or phage plaques. It is the substrate of choice for blue-white selection of recombinant bacterial colonies with the lac+ genotype. X−Gal is cleaved by β−galactosidase to yield an insoluble blue precipitate. X−Gal is particularly useful in molecular biology applications to detect the activity of β−galactosidase which is frequently used as a reporter gene. In cloning, X−Gal is used to detect insertion of foreign DNA into the lacZ region of plasmid DNA using α-complementation which is based on vectors such as the pUC and the M13mp series that carry a fragment of the β-galactosidase gene encoding an α-fragment of β-galactosidase.

Anti-SEPTIN 15 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Anti-SEPTIN 15 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Supplier: ProSci Inc.

SEP15 is a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. Studies in mouse suggest that this selenoprotein may have redox function and may be involved in the quality control of protein folding. The gene that encodes the protein is localized on chromosome 1p31, a genetic locus commonly mutated or deleted in human cancers. This gene encodes a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. The selenocysteine is encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTR of selenoprotein genes have a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. Studies in mouse suggest that this selenoprotein may have redox function and may be involved in the quality control of protein folding. This gene is localized on chromosome 1p31, a genetic locus commonly mutated or deleted in human cancers. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.

Anti-CLDN1 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Anti-CLDN1 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Supplier: ProSci Inc.

CLDN1 Antibody: Claudin1 (CLDN1), a member of the claudin family, is an integral membrane protein and a component of tight junction strands. Tight junctions are specialized regions of cell to cell contact consisting of networking strands that act as a molecular gasket for preventing the leakage of ions, water, etc., between cells. They are abundant in luminal epithelial sheets where they maintain epithelial cell polarity. Different tissues exhibit different Claudin composition and CLDN1 expression is often cell type and tissue dependent. Loss of function mutations result in neonatal ichthyosis-sclerosing cholangitis syndrome. CLDN1 and CLDN2 were found to be overexpressed in colonal cancer tissues and may be useful as tumor markers and targets for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Characterization of Claudins expression in human tumors can be an additional diagnostic tool. Recent studies show that CLDN1 has gastric tumor suppressive activity and is a direct transcriptional target of RUNX3. Along with SCARB1, LDL-R, and the tetraspanin superfamily member CD81, CLDN1 has been reported to be an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus.
