Fixative, combining the coagulant qualities of alcohol, to enable a better fixation of nuclear and cytoplasmic elements. The erythrocytes are lysed and, therefore, do not obscure observation of the elements of interest. This fixative can be used according to the Saccomanno method.

Commonly used in cytology, it is recommended for urine, pleural or peritoneal fluid cytologies, bronchial washings and cervical/vaginal samples.
