M9CA is a minimal medium supplemented with casamino acids used for the preparation of recombinant E. coli strains. M63 minimal medium is used for the cultivation and propagation of E. coli. Tryptone broth is used for the cultivation of E. coli. Also known as T-broth.

M63 medium broth contains: (NH₄)₂SO₄ (two g/L), KH₂PO₄ (13,6 g/L), FeSO₄^.7H₂O (0,5 mg/L)
Tryptone broth contents: Tryptone (10 g/L), NaCl (five g/L) at a final pH 7,0 ±0,2 at 25 °C
