Pokeweed mitogen is extracted from pokeweed roots. This protein has hemagglutinating, leukoagglutinating, and mitogenic properties. It is not blood group specific, but has affinity for N-acetyl-β-D-glucosamine oligomers.

• Soluble in phosphate buffered saline (1 mg/ml)
• Can be reconstitute with 0,01 M sodium phosphate, 0,15 M sodium chloride
• Potency: 0,03 to 0,3 μg/ml mitogenic activity
• Extinction Coefficient (E1%): E1%=18,5 (280 nm in water) (Lit.)

It shows agglutination when tested with human red blood cells.
