These standards are intended for use in the determination of fuel (diesel fuel or gasoline) in used engine oils by GC, IR, fuel dilution meter (fuel sniffer), or flash point analyser. They are prepared gravimetrically from well-characterised fuels and hydrocarbon oils, and are verified by GC-FID in accordance with ASTM Method D3524 or D3525.
