Testet detekterar spår av antimikrobiella substanser som antibiotika och sulfonamider i kött och andra livsmedel av animaliskt ursprung. Testet baseras på agar-diffusion med hjälp av sporer av Geobacillus stearothermophilus som testorganismer. Antibiotika och sulfonamid-rester hämmar tillväxten av testorganismen. Rengöringsmedel, desinfektionsmedel och konserveringsmedel påverkar inte testet.

Serratia species are implicated in nosocomial infections. In several countries, Serratia marcescens is frequently associated with epidemics in intensive care units and in particular in neonatal and pediatric units. Surveillance of nosocomial infections requires effective recovery of clinical isolates from faeces, wound exudates and respiratory samples to prevent problems of cross infection and potentially fatal infections. In this context, CHROMagar™ has developed CHROMagar™ Serratia, a culture medium perfectly suited to the search for S. marcescens in faeces. In addition, S. marcescens is able to survive days to months on surfaces, distilled water and hand soap, making it an important pathogen in nosocomial infections and sporadic epidemics.

EnteroPluri Test is a 12-sector system containing special culture media that permits identification of the Enterobacteriaceae and other gram negative, oxidase negative bacteria. The system allows the simultaneous inoculation of all media present in the sectors and the execution of 15 biochemical reactions. Microorganism is identified evaluating the colour change of the different culture media after 18 to 24 hours of incubation at 36 ±1 °C and by a code number obtained from biochemical reaction interpretation.
