Värmeapparater använder olika metoder för att öka temperaturen för prover i bl.a. provrör, bägare, kolvar och deglar. Spritlampor, gasbrännare, värmemantlar, varmeskåp eller värmeplattor kan använda gas eller el för att skapa värmen som krävs. Keramik- och isolerade stålvärmelement ger stabila värmekällor samt är säkra och effektiva.
