Mikrorör är idealiska för applikationer som kräver inkubering av rör, användning av radioaktiva molekyler eller DNA-/proteinforskning där provets integritet är viktig. Mikrorören kan autoklaveras flera gånger och är mycket kostnadseffektiva. De är lättavlästa med millilitermarkeringar i olika volymer. Locken kan vara skruvlock eller fästa på mikrocentrifugrören för enkel påsättning, och även snäpplock förblir säkra under intensiv centrifugering. Finns i konisk- eller plattbottnad design.
