Mikropipetter används för att säkert leverera exakta mikrolitermängder vätskor för tester. Den enkla funktionen innebär att den övre kolven trycks ner, och när den släpps sugs vätskan in. Genom att trycka igen dispenseras den upptagna vätskan. Modeller med fast eller justerbar volym kan ha inbyggda spetsstopp för att förhindra överfyllnad. Graderingar på det genomskinliga instrumenthuset och färgkodning säkerställer att rätt kapacitet används.
