Cellodlingsmedium

Cellodling är en av huvudteknikerna inom biovetenskap. Det är den allmänna termen som används för att avlägsna celler, vävnader eller organ från ett djur eller en växt och deras efterföljande placering i en konstgjord miljö som främjar deras överlevnad och proliferation. Det viktigaste och avgörande steget i cellodling är att välja lämpligt tillväxtmedium (cellodlingsmedium) för in vitro-odling. Det finns olika typer av cellmedia tillgängliga:

• Naturliga medier: består endast av naturligt förekommande biologiska vätskor.
• Syntetiska medier (artificial media): med tillsats av näringsämnen (både organiska och oorganiska), vitaminer, salter, O2- och CO2-gasfaser, serumproteiner, kolhydrater, cofaktorer.

Syntetiska medier grupperas i serum innehållande media med fetalt bovint serum (FBS) som vanligast tillsats, serumfria medier utan FBS, kemiskt definierade medier och proteinfria medier. VWR har media för olika celltyper, såsom för humana cellinjer, hybridomceller eller ovarieceller från kinesisk hamster.
