The resistance to the rotation of the cone, caused by the presence of the sample fluid between the cone and plate, produces a torque that is proportional to the shear stress in the fluid. The correct relative position of cone and plate is obtained by following a simple mechanical procedure without the need for external gauges or supplementary instrumentation.
: A cone plate version is available for the viscometer models described above except DV-E. Cone and plate systems cannot be retrofitted onto standard viscometers. Supplied with one cone spindle, stand and sample cup. Other accessories are available on request.
