Os sistemas de destilação separam os componentes da amostra por meio de ciclos de aquecimento e resfriamento. O processo de purificação pode ser realizado de forma manual ou automática, conforme a preferência do usuário. Aplicando uma temperatura constante por meio de fontes de calor elétricas ou a gás, os líquidos em ebulição evaporam. Ao sair do recipiente original, o vapor é resfriado em um condensador e goteja em um novo recipiente. Repetindo várias vezes esse método comum de preparação de amostras, os sistemas de destilação garantem melhor separação entre as partes individuais da mistura para análises mais precisas.
