It is a potential phase change material (PCM) for storing thermal energy in solar cookers. The result of altering poly (vinyl alcohol)(PVA) films with MgCl2·6H2O has been investigated. The ability of MgCl2·6H2O to reduce the flammability of cotton fabrics has been studied.
