The zinc transporter ZIP3, also known as SLC39A3, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. GOLPH3 was initially identified as a peripheral membrane protein localized to the trans-Golgi network, but others reported it to be primarily a mitochondrial protein that regulated the mitochondrial mass through the regulation of the mitochondria-specific phospholipid cardiolipin. SOX2 is a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of cell fate. SOX2 is required for stem-cell maintenance in the central nervous system, and also regulates gene expression in the stomach.
