2-Mercaptoethanol ≥98%, liquid for molecular biology

Supplier: MP Biomedicals

β-Mercaptoethanol can act as an enzyme reactivator in systems necessitating reduction for activation, and has been commonly used to reduce disulfide bonds in order to separate protein subunits for use in electrophoresis.
2-Mercaptoethanol is used to reduce disulfide linkages in solubilizing proteins for gel electrophoresis (typically used in SDS-PAGE sample buffer at 5% concentration). Also reduces excess oxidative polymerization of catalysts. Cleaving intermolecular (between subunits) disulfide bonds allows the subunits of a protein to separate independently on SDS-PAGE. Cleaving intramolecular (within subunit) disulfide bonds allows the subunits to become completely denatured so that each peptide migrates according to its chain length with no influence due to secondary structure. In solution, 2-mercaptoethanol is readily oxidized in air to a disulfide, especially at alkaline pH. Because of this property, it is widely used to protect proteins, enzymes in particular, from becoming inactive. An excess of 2-mercaptoethanol (generally used at 0.01 M) will maintain the protein thiol groups in their reduced state.

Corning® Synthegel™ Synthetic Hydrogel Matrix Kits

Corning® Synthegel™ Synthetic Hydrogel Matrix Kits

Supplier: Corning

Corning® Synthegel™ 3D matrices are chemically defined peptides that self assemble into nanofibers which crosslink to form tuneable hydrogels. These hydrogels provide a robust and reproducible microenvironment for 3D culture of physiological spheroids and hiPS cells. The Synthegel™ matrix kits provide negligible variability and a more controlled substrate for in vivo-like 3D cell culture. Such a platform is needed for cancer research, stem cell research, and drug screening in a 3D format.

Anti-TASK1 Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (HRP) [Clone: S374-48]

Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical

K+ channels are divided into three subclasses reflecting the number of transmembrane segments (TMS), which are designated 6TMS, 4TMS and 2TMS. Members of the 4TMS class contain two distinct pore regions and include TWIK, TREK, TRAAK and TASK. TASK channels are highly sensitive to external pH in the physiological range. TASK-1 is expressed in brain and in rat heart, with high levels of expression in the right atrium. TASK-2, mainly expressed in kidney, is localized in cortical distal tubules and collecting ducts, suggesting a role in renal K+ transport. TASK-3 from rat cerebellum shares 54% identity with TASK-1, but less than 30% identity with TASK-2 and other tandem pore K+ channels. Anti-TASK1 Potassium Channel Antibody is ideal for research in Neuroscience, particularly studies concerning the dopaminergic neuron and melatonin signaling.

RAE1 is a homolog of yeast Rae1. It contains four WD40 motifs, and has been shown to localize to distinct foci in the nucleoplasm, to the nuclear rim, and to meshwork-like structures throughout the cytoplasm. This gene is thought to be involved in nucleocytoplasmic transport, and in directly or indirectly attaching cytoplasmic mRNPs to the cytoskeleton.Mutations in the Schizosaccharomyces pombe Rae1 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Gle2 genes have been shown to result in accumulation of poly (A)-containing mRNA in the nucleus, suggesting that the encoded proteins are involved in RNA export. Anti-GABBR2 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (Cy5.5®)

Supplier: Bioss

Component of a heterodimeric G-protein coupled receptor for GABA, formed by GABBR1 and GABBR2. Within the heterodimeric GABA receptor, only GABBR1 seems to bind agonists, while GABBR2 mediates coupling to G proteins. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of down-stream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase. Signaling inhibits adenylate cyclase, stimulates phospholipase A2, activates potassium channels, inactivates voltage-dependent calcium-channels and modulates inositol phospholipid hydrolysis. Plays a critical role in the fine-tuning of inhibitory synaptic transmission. Pre-synaptic GABA receptor inhibits neurotransmitter release by down-regulating high-voltage activated calcium channels, whereas postsynaptic GABA receptor decreases neuronal excitability by activating a prominent inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) conductance that underlies the late inhibitory postsynaptic potentials. Not only implicated in synaptic inhibition but also in hippocampal long-term potentiation, slow wave sleep, muscle relaxation and antinociception.

Anti-BDNF Chicken Polyclonal Antibody

Anti-BDNF Chicken Polyclonal Antibody

Supplier: Biosensis

BDNF belongs to the neurotrophin family and regulates the survival and differentiation of neurons during development. The alterations in BDNF expression induced by various kinds of brain insult including stress, ischemia, seizure activity and hypoglycemia, may contribute to some pathologies such as depression, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. Microglia release BDNF that may contribute to neuroinflammation and neuropathic pain. FUNCTION: Promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. Major regulator of synaptic transmission and plasticity at adult synapses in many regions of the CNS. The versatility of BDNF is emphasized by its contribution to a range of adaptive neuronal responses including long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity, as well as homeostatic regulation of intrinsic neuronal excitability. SUBUNIT: Monomers and homodimers. Binds to NTRK2/TRKB. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted protein. POst translation modification: Converted into mature BDNF by plasmin (PLG). SIMILARITY: Belongs to the NGF-beta family.
