Product Details & Documents
Trypsin is used to enzymatically release adherent cells from tissue culture plates for passaging. Divalent cations such as calcium and magnesium, which are often present in the cell culture environment, inhibit this action. EDTA sequesters these ions and thus enhances the efficacy of trypsin.
Storage: -25°C to -15°C
Trypsin has a pH specification range from 7.2 to 8. At this range, phenol red inclusion gives the solution a pink color. During shipping, the trypsin might change color from pink to yellow due to exposure to carbon dioxide released from the dry ice in the shipping container. In our experience, this discoloration does not affect the functionality of the trypsin. By adjusting the pH to 7.2 – 8 with NaOH the trypsin activity could be restored.
