About this item
IBI's Bacteriological Agar is used as a solidification agent in the preparation of microbiological culture media
Store at room temperature, keep tightly sealed, and protect from moisture and light.
Granulated agar is a water soluble colloidal extract from certain species of marine red algae; including Gelidium, Pterocladia, and Gracilaria. Impurities, debris, minerals, and pigments are reduced to specific levels during manufacture. The majority of microorganisms cannot digest agar, thus making it an excellent solidifying agent. Granulated agar may also be used for general microbiological purposes where clarity is not a strict requirement.
