Bacto™ Tryptose Phosphate Broth is an infusion-free buffered medium recommended for the cultivation of fastidious, pathogenic microorganisms. It is valuable in tissue culture procedures where the peptone content is considered to be a stimulating factor for cells.

• Peptones provide carbon and nitrogen
• Glucose is the primary source and sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance
• Can be used in procedures for the serodiagnosis of Listeria monocytogenes and in tissue culture procedures where the peptone is considered to be a stimulating factor for cells
• Often used as a supplement at 5 to 10% (v/v) to serum containing medium for mammalian cell cultures, and for end appliaction of viral vaccine production, such as foot and mouth disease (FMDV)
• Has been used for growing various mammalian cells for studies on viruses such as rabies using BHK cells
