Sedia’s Asanté™ Dried Blood Specimen Collection Strips (Asanté™ Strips) are intended for the collection, transport, storage, testing, and archiving of blood specimens, including finger-stick blood, venous blood, serum, or plasma.
- Quicker drying time
- No hole punchers needed
- Can be handled with gloves
Collected Dried Blood Specimen can be analyzed for antibodies, proteins, DNA, and other biomarkers
Asanté™ Strips have clear advantages over classic dried blood spot cards, including, but not limited to: (a) quicker drying time (ranging from 1–2 hours at room temperature, dependent on size); (b) no hole punchers or forceps needed (can be handled with gloves), preventing cross contamination and saving time by not cleaning both items; (c) specimen ID linkage is maintained from specimen collection to the elution buffer, avoiding sample mix ups; (d) a collection pad that minimizes non-specific binding of target analytes and, when dried, readily releases proteins, enzymes, antibodies, DNA, and other biomarkers; and (e) elution is an easy one-step process with no need for incubation or centrifuging of sample.
Asanté™ Strips are available in three sizes: 60mm², 100mm², and 200mm². The size refers to the area of the absorbent blood pad on each strip. The 60mm² strips collect a quantity of blood approximately equivalent to a 6mm or 0.25" diameter classical dried blood spot punch. All Asanté™ Strips sizes feature waterproof writeable ID tape. Up to six 60mm², six 100mm², or five 200mm² Asanté™ Strips (each loaded with dried specimens) can be inserted into an Asanté™ Shipping Card which can be further labeled or notated for specimen identity. The Asanté™ Shipping Card can then be folded and archived or transported to a laboratory for analysis of the specimens on the Asanté™ Strips. The Asanté™ Shipping Card can fit into 4x6" Bio-Hazard bag for transportation and storage.
The Asanté™ Strips may be used for DNA/RNA molecular studies, pharmacokinetic studies, forensic studies, and immunological studies, among others.
