About this item
Sklar's Jackson Improved Style Laryngectomy Tube is similar to the Jackson original style tracheostomy tube, yet shorter in overall length
A laryngectomy tube consists of one obturator, an inner cannula, and an outer cannula, but is intended to provide a more permanent airway than a tracheostomy tube. It is commonly placed following the removal of the patient's larynx, often due to severe trauma, such as cancer. The improved style tube has a different locking mechanism than the original style, and primarily impacts removal of the inner cannula for cleaning. The tube style that is utilized can best be determined by the physician, patient, and caregiver.
