- Purification:Beta Galactosidase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, and anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Beta Galactosidase [E.coli]. Cross reactivity against Beta Galactosidase from other tissues and species may occur but have not been specifically determined. Very low background staining has been reported in various assays.

β-galactosidase, (beta-gal or β-gal), is a hydrolase enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of β-galactosides into monosaccharides. It may also cleave fucosides and arabinosides but with much lower efficiency. It is an essential enzyme in the human body. Deficiencies in the protein can result in galactosialidosis or Morquio B syndrome.
Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:2,000 - 1:5,000; Immunohistochemsitry: 1:250; Western Blot: 1:500 - 1:2,000; 0.01% (w/v) Gentamicin Sulfate. Do NOT add Sodium Azide!
