In some cases, patient specimens with increased lipid concentrations appear turbid
This turbidity can cause problems in the performance of photometric assays and can be avoided by employing pre-treatment steps. Such steps, however, are time-consuming and prone to error. Stanbio has developed a mixture of special additives, collectively called LCF, to eliminate these pre-treatment steps. LCF is integrated in the respective assay reagent and begins working immediately in the incubation phase of the test procedure. Clearing is achieved within minutes (e.g. up to 2000 mg/dL triglycerides, equivalent to 22.8 mmol/L, is cleared within 2-3 minutes at room temperature). Stanbio LCF assays, therefore, do not require additional pre-treatment steps allowing for easily obtained correct results.
