Dozowniki spiralne służą do nanoszenia próbki ciekłej na płytkę Petriego we wzorze spiralnym. Jest to powszechnie część procedury zliczania CFU w celu określenia liczby drobnoustrojów w próbce. Dozowniki spiralne są również stosowane w badaniach, diagnostyce klinicznej oraz jako metoda pokrywania płytki Petriego bakteriami przed umieszczeniem krążków antybiotykowych do AST. Automatyczne wysiewanie może być wykonywane na różnych poziomach stężenia.

A predetermined volume of bacterial suspension is sprayed in the shape of a spiral in a logarithmic dilution onto four areas of the Petri dish.
