Buffers
Resisting pH changes, buffers protect samples when acids or alkali is added. Powder and liquid forms efficiently track proteins during electrophoresis isolation and separation. The salty buffers can also be used to calibrate and standardize pH meters for accurate readings. Blocking substances stop antibody attachment to membrane free sites that would produce an interfering background. In various concentrations to fit any need, the buffers may come in liquids or dehydrated formats.
VWR®, pH electrode maintenance kit
Supplier: VWR Chemicals
The measurement of the pH value is one of the most frequently and universally made measurements in science.
What is often not fully understood is the fact that a large number of problems related to pH measurement is the
correct selection, care or maintenance of the electrodes with particular emphasis on the reference electrode.
