Ampicillin sodium salt is a semi-synthetic derivative of penicillin, active as a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Trimethoprim is primarily used as an antibacterial agent. It has dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor activity with selectivity for the prokaryote enzyme. Dithiothreitol is useful for stabilizing sulfhydryl containing enzymes. Effective in sample buffers for reducing protein disulfide bonds prior to SDS-PAGE.
