VWR® PerfectBlue Maxi ExW 'Revolution', Wide format gel system
Supplier: VWR Collection
The Maxi ExW 'Revolution' offers built-in buffer recirculation - without the need for pumps or additional tubing. The Maxi ExW 'Revolution' offers the same high throughput, rapid separation as the Maxi ExW model but, with the position of the cathode and a rising tube, the system uses hydrogen bubbles to slowly mix the buffer. This system thereby avoids the build-up of pH or ionic gradients for electrophoresis of maximum quality and stability.

VWR® PerfectBlue Maxi M 'Revolution', Gel system
Supplier: VWR Collection
Based on the Maxi M model, the Maxi M 'Revolution' offers a built-in buffer circulation system, powered by the system’s electrodes. At the cathode, hydrogen bubbles are produced and pass up a diagonally positioned pipe connected to the two sides of the tank to produce a gentle and continual circulation of the buffer. The system nulls any pH and ionic gradient – without the fuss of mechanical pumps. The system offers 6 comb positions enabling the gel to be partitioned into 2, 3 or 4 areas. In addition, the system can accommodate any of the 23 standard and microtitre comb designs described for the Maxi M model.

VWR® PerfectBlue Mini L Revolution, Gel System
Supplier: VWR Collection
The 'Revolution' series includes a buffer circulation system, powered by the electrodes themselves. Hydrogen bubbles produced at the cathode pass up a diagonally positioned pipe connected to the two sides of the tank producing a gentle circulation of the buffer. The result is no pH and ionic gradient – without need of mechanical pumps.

Mini horizontal gel electrophoresis systems, Owl™ B2 EasyCast™ and B3
Supplier: THERMO OWL SCIENTIFIC
The Owl™ B2 EasyCast™ mini horizontal gel system provides flexibility in a small footprint and is available with or without buffer exchange ports. The Owl™ B3 with built-in recirculation system prevents formation of pH and ionic gradients for high resolution and uniform reproducible results. The Owl™ B3 is ideal for long runs, multiple sample sets or RNA gels. It also eliminates uneven migration, band distortion or disassociation of pH dependent glycoxylated RNA molecules that can result when ionic depletion occurs. As the recirculation system is built into the buffer chamber, no external pumps, tubing or stirring bars are required.

Rehydration reagent, DeStreak
Supplier: Cytiva
The appearance of streaks that distort 2-D electrophoresis maps is a common problem, occurring most frequently when running gels that contain regions greater than pH 7,0. Increased sample load, increased length of the IPG strip, or using a narrower pH gradient worsens the problem. Extra spots on 2-D gels, caused by non specific oxidation of proteins, is another difficulty encountered when running gels containing basic regions. Both streaking and non specific oxidation result in poorly resolved protein patterns and reduced reproducibility between electrophoresis runs.

The Owl A5 is ideal for long runs, multiple sample sets or RNA gels. It also eliminates uneven migration, band distortion or disassociation of pH dependent glycoxylated RNA molecules that can result when ionic depletion occurs.

Immobiline™ DryStrip gels
Supplier: Cytiva
Immobiline™ DryStrip gels (IPG strips) are used for isoelectric focusing (IEF), run as the first dimension of 2-D electrophoresis or as a separate application. IPG strips contain a preformed pH gradient immobilised in precast polyacrylamide gels on a plastic backing. A comprehensive range of overlapping IPG strips covering narrow, medium, and wide pH ranges are available in various strip lengths, and the strips are individually packaged and bar coded for convenient handling and sample tracking.

Glycerine ≥99%, clear colourless viscous liquid cell culture reagent
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Storage: Store at Room Temperature (15 - 30 °C)
Glycerol is used both in sample preparation and gel formation for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Glycerol (5-10%) increases the density of a sample so that the sample will layer at the bottom of a gel’s sample well. Glycerol is also used to aid in casting gradient gels and as a protein stabilizer and storage buffer component. Glycerol is used in the concentration and storage of enzymes. Also prevents back-diffusion and protein samples into the buffer. Ideal for use as a cryoprotectant.

Ion exclusion HPLC columns, PRP-X300
Supplier: HAMILTON BONADUZ
A fast, versatile HPLC column packing material. These columns rapidly and easily separate closely related alcohols and organic acids without column heating. The sulfonated poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) support separates samples by a mixed mode mechanism. A wide range of samples can be analysed with these columns because the selectivity of the column can be altered by changing the pH of the buffer or adding an organic modifier (methanol, acetonitrile) to the buffer. The stability to organic solvents makes it possible to analyse samples that have been too highly retained on conventional ion exclusion supports.

Software for HPLC method development, ChromSwordAuto® 5 and ChromSwordAuto® 5 Hitachi Edition
Supplier: COLLECTION PREFIX HPLC
ChromSwordAuto® 5: Communicates directly with the HPLC instrument in order to create a fully automated HPLC or UHPLC method development station. The unique ChromSwordAuto® software is capable of developing and optimising HPLC methods fully automatically within just a few hours. Methods already in use can also be optimised, thus reducing analysis time considerably. All you have to do is place the sample in the autosampler, set a few parameters and start the optimisation process. ChromSwordAuto® then predicts the method conditions and controls the HPLC system connected in recording the chromatograms. These are analysed by the software and the optimal conditions determined. The rapid optimisation mode can be used to provide an overview of the performance of the column/solvent system selected or to rapidly screen columns and eluents considered for use. The fine optimisation mode additionally collects and evaluates further ancillary data and produces up to 10 sets of alternative optimal HPLC conditions. Both of these operating modes can be applied in combination with column and solving switching procedures in order to try a variety of column/solvent combinations or to establish optimal pH conditions – fully automatically.
