Cell death signals are transduced by death domain (DD) death effector domain (DED), and caspase recruitment domain (CARD) containing molecules. Aquaporin 2 (AQP2) is a hormonally regulated water channel located in the renal collecting duct. Mutations in the AQP2 gene cause hereditary nephrogenic diabetes insipidus in humans (Iolascon et al.,2007). p75NTR (CD271) was originally discovered as a low affinity nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR). Later it was found that it was the receptor for all neurotrophins, including NGF, BDNF, NT3 and NT4/5. It mediates signals of neurotrophins for neuronal survival, apoptosis, neurite outgrowth and synaptic plasticity.
