Protein Extraction

Protein extraction kits provide a simple, rapid, and reproducible method for preparing total cellular protein extracts from a wide variety of biological samples. The results of these extraction systems generate protein samples that can be applied directly to a variety of applications. High-performance models are designed for efficient recovery of genomic DNA and RNA. These extraction kits are capable of purifying genomic DNA, total RNA, and total protein simultaneously from cultured cells, animal tissues, whole blood, and biological fluids.

The B-PER® Bacterial Protein Extraction Kit eliminates the need for harsh mechanical procedures, like sonication. The easy-to-use cell lysis solution uses mild non-ionic detergents to disrupt cells and solubilise proteins without denaturation. Enzyme supplements such as DNase I and Lysozyme allow for improved yield of large molecular weight proteins which are difficult to purify. B-PER® is also compatible with downstream protein purification methods such as GST purification and His-tagged immobilised metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).

The use of peptides for the generation of antibodies against specific peptides has become an essential tool in proteomic research. A crucial step in using peptides as antigens is their coupling to carrier proteins. Peptides are designed to be good epitopes by themselves; however they fail to elicit a strong antibody response. The reason for this is that the epitopes are able to bind to the B-cells, but are too small to contain additional motifs required to associate with class II molecules and T-cell receptors. The carrier proteins, once coupled to the peptides, provide these additional motifs and generate a strong antibody response. All three carrier proteins are also offered as activated carrier proteins, named as ActiveHOOK™.
