TAE is more compatible with in-gel manipulations and band recovery procedures than a TBE buffer. A single strength (1X) solution contains 0.04M Tris-Acetate and 0.001M EDTA with a final pH of 8.0. Low ionic strength. Better resolution of large DNA fragments (>12kbDNA).
