The adapter has a threaded polypropylene screw cap on top with an inside O-Ring for depth adjustment of 6–7 mm for straight stem thermometers, glass tubing, and other items. Rotating the extracting nut removes the adapter from the flask. The size 10/18 adapter does not have a body O-Ring. Not autoclavable.
