Great example of plant cells and mitosis.
Ward's produced slides
- Rigorous quality control standards
Teach students about mitosis in plant cells with any of the several onion mitosis slides available. Each slide shows all stages of mitosis. One size doesn't fit all, so there are many different views of the tissue, stained with a variety of compounds to enhance various structures. Most teachers prefer a longitudinal section through the root tip. Cross sections provide an additional perspective of mitosis in the cell. Epidermal peels are the best starting spot to view plant cells. This is the same view often used to show the effects of solution tonicity on plants (this must use fresh samples not prepared slides). Finally, the leaf epidermis peel shows the cells of the leaf epidermal layer.
