Plumb Bobs

A plumb bob is a weight that is suspended from a string and used as a vertical line of reference, used to ensure that constructions are plumb, or vertical. They are used in a variety of instruments to set the instrument exactly over a fixed survey marker, or to transcribe positions onto the ground for placing a marker. Another popular use for these tools is to determine the center of gravity of an irregular shape.
