Nucleic Acid Assays
An assay is an investigative procedure in laboratory medicine, pharmacology, environmental biology, and molecular biology for qualitatively assessing or quantitatively measuring the presence or functional activity of the analyte, or the entity being targeted by the assay. Generally, assays involve biological materials or phenomena which tend to be intrinsically more complex in composition or in behaviour than what can be handled by traditional chemical analysis and titration.

Supplier: VWR Chemicals
Fluorescent DNA Quantitation Kit uses fluorescent bisBenzimide H33258 dye to bind to AT sequences of the minor groove of double-stranded DNA. In the assay, the sample is excited at 360 nm and when the dye binds to dsDNA an emission spectrum at 460 nm is produced.
