About this item
Proline specific endopeptidase specifically cleaves peptide bonds on the carboxy side of proline residues.
- Isoelectric point (pI): 9,1
- Contaminants: aminopeptidase, trypsin
- Inhibitors: DFP, Z-Gly-Pro-CH₂Cl₂
It is useful for the determination of amino acid sequences of peptides and proteins containing proline residues. It is useful in cancer, neurology and diabetes research. It may be used as a drug target for neuropsychiatric diseases such as stress disorder, depression, and schizophrenia.
Unit definition: One unit causes the formation of one μmole of p-nitroaniline per minute under specific pH and temperature conditions.
Enzyme Activity: One unit is the enzyme activity which produces 1 μmol p-nitroaniline per minute at 30 °C, pH 7,0, from Z-Gly-Pro-pNA.
