Neosolaniol belongs to the class of type A trichothecene mycotoxins produced by various Fusarium molds.

Neosolaniol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in: Wheat samples by acetonitrile-based extraction and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) as well as capillary GC with flame ionization detection and Cereals by acetonitrile-based extraction and GC coupled to mass spectrometry (MS).
