CCA - Chromogenic Coliform Agar

Chromogenic agar medium (pH 6.8 ± 0.2) for the selective, quantitaive detection and differentiation of E.coli and coliform bacteria in water according to ISO 9308-1.

E.coli and coliform bacteria are indicator for water quality and hygiene. Chromogenic media enables the simultaneous detection of these bacteria by colour differentiation within 24 h. The chromogenic substrates contained in the medium are cleaved by germ-specific enzymes. Resulting colour complexes stain coliform bacteria pink-red, while E.coli becomes visible through a blue staining. Tergitol-7 inhibits the Gram-positive background flora.
