Legionella spec. is tested usually with cultural methods. However, this may take up to 14 days to deliver results and some strains are living but are not culturable. Using this Real-Time PCR test you may have results already after a few hours. You can use this test in combination with an appropriate pre- enrichment or you can do a DNA purification directly from the filter without pre-enrichment. The kit is also suitable to confirm bacterial colonies on agar plates.
